The story behind Wasted State?

I originally titled this blog, what is Wasted State? And then promptly answered the question within the first sentence, which as we know as blog readers or people with a general interest as to what I'm up to or, lets be honest. Too much free time currently and nothing else better to do, unles you're on the loo then reading random stuff is another way to sit down in peace for a tiny bit longer.

So what is wasted state? Simply in my mind its the umbrella of how I want to release everything in my mind. A production company for films, photography, music, writing and merch / clothing. Does that make sense? No.

So anyway next question.

Where did the idea come from? The pub, about 10 years ago. (Maybe longer as I don't like to think about the passage of time and that much which has been wasted not doing stuff, which may be the topic of another blog post at some point)

A number of friends had discovered graffiti and tagging, making designs, getting stickers printed and sticking them in places around Solihull and Birmingham. So whilst drinking insued they turned to me as the young, whatever it is I was and said. You'd like this, you should come up with a logo and tag, thing. So after a short 'Beerstorm' (A mindmap which comes from excessive drinking) I took my initials and came up with the simple idea of, you guessed it;

Wasted State.

Which if I'm remember correctly, was met with bouts of "Thats awesome" or "That's so cool" But I could be remembering incorrectly as it was over 10 years ago, and we were quite drunk.

But the message was still clear in my mind now as it was then. Which to me suggests the idea is a good one, like advice I've heard with tattoo's. If you have a tattoo idea, hold onto it for 6 months before getting it, and if in 6 months you still want it, get it. And if you don't like that idea or want it, it was probably for the best.*1 As I feel if you have an idea and it leaves your mind instantly or shortly after the thought. Then it probably wasn't a good idea.

If you have what I like to call the 'Seed' of an idea, which plant's itself in your mind and grows and dosent leave. Then thats an idea worth developing.

What is the message? Can you stop waffling on please?

To answer your second question, probably not. No, sorry.

But the message wasn't just about the obvious 'Wasted State' means 'Being drunk' or 'One is in a wasted state of mind*2'.

It also had the idea of a state, as in a land mass being wasted and falling to dystopia as it were. Thus being wasted, or not meeting it's full potential, falling to dismay and disruption therefore becoming wasted. Hense it's logo!

There's a logo now?

Oddly enough, yes! Which was one of the first developped idea's for the thing, wayyy back when, "Like when you stated reading this" yet for whatever reason or another I couldn't get it down on paper the way I wanted it, I couldn't get it on illustrator as I wanted either. I had others try to draw it out too yet it wasn't quite right.

This was the idea for me that made me look at it and say to myself, 'Holy S#*t' thats the idea!'.

Now I'm aware it maynot look like much to you, but to me, thats what I wan't, thats the image.

Will that be put on stickers and plastered all over the place?

No.

Is it because it says Wasted Stote and not Wasted State due to my poor hand writing?

Also no.

Becase thats the seed of the idea. This will grow into something bigger, I'm going to ahve to simplify it, annoyingly in my mind to what I can do now.

Forcing myself to take smaller bites, as it were. Take a trillogy of video games or films.

In issue one the charcter starts off an ameture, they can't do much and have a basic form of fighting or acheiving their goals *5. Then the second installment, they can do more, they've grown. They've evolved from what they were previously and have new skills. By the 3rd installment they may get knocked back down a bit and have to grow again, but they can still do more.

So here it is.

After all of this waffleing and back story on "what is wasted state?"

For me, it's the start of something new, a dream I've been dreaming of for years which needs to happen for me.

And for that story.

It's probably time for a new blog on that.

*1; Side note on tattoos; I've had many idea's of tattoos over the years and have still never gotten one. Not due to not liking my idea's as I held onto one for around 7 years before going, I don't like that idea any more. However the issue I have is money, lack there of and other things I'm more imediatly intereseted in or in need of. I do, however like the idea of having a Mike Portnoy style leg of influences which features band logo's of people who have influenced me.

*2 I like that idea for a quote somewhere.

We'll see if it's a good one to me by if it sticks with me.
